Fire destroys Londsborough home

The family dog alerted a homeowner to a fire Monday morning in Londesborough.

Fire crews from Central Huron, Huron East, and North Huron arrived at a house fire on Sarah Street about 5:45 a.m. to find the homeowner and her dog safely outside, according to Central Huron’s Fire Chief Jeff Lipskie.

Lipskie pointed out the home also had working smoke alarms which provided an additional layer of safety, and no one was hurt.

He said the dollar loss from the incident is still being assessed, but the damage to the house is extensive, and it will be considered a total loss. Crews remained on scene Monday afternoon, working to extinguish hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the fire is not considered suspicious.
