Banking scam costs Goderich couple $33K

A Goderich couple are out $33,000 due to a recent banking scam.

According to Huron OPP, the couple got a call from a person claiming to be from their bank who advised their accounts had been compromised.

The fraudsters then physically went to the couple's home where they had the pair turn over their credit and debit cards, as well as other banking information.

A few hours later, the couple discovered thousands of dollars had been removed from their accounts and called police.

Police are using the incident as a reminder to the public to never give out banking information or turn over credit or debit cards to anyone at your door.

"Banks will never ask this of you," police said.

The investigation into the banking scam is ongoing.
