Health Unit requesting help identifying dog involved in biting incident

Grey Bruce Public Health is hoping the public can help identify a dog and its owner after a biting incident in West Grey.

The health unit says that on Wednesday, August 14 around 5 p.m., a man was bitten by a dog along Highway 6, north of Wilder Lake Road in Varney.

The dog, described as small and white with curly fur, did not have a collar on and was seen walking by itself along the road.

Grey Bruce Public Health needs to confirm the dog is not infectious with the rabies virus. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1307.
