Point Clark Pickleball Club pushing for permanent courts

Huron-Kinloss Council received a delegation from the Point Clark Pickleball Club this week, as the group advocated for dedicated courts for the growing sport.

The club currently plays asphalt courts in the parking lot of the Point Clark Community Centre, which they say are only available from 9 a.m. to noon, Mondays to Fridays.

They asked for council to consider creating dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at the Community Centre, highlighting the sport's inclusivity, health benefits, and alignment with the Township's vision and mission. The club also expressed a willingness to assist in planning and finding sponsors for the courts.

Council directed those in support of the idea to the ongoing outreach for the Town's new Parks and Trails Plan. Among those considerations is where they'll put a new pickleball facility.

Those interested can have their say online, or at the next community open house, at the Point Clark Community Centre on August 17, at 9 a.m.
