The Saugeen Shores Police Service is warning about the dangers of possessing replica weapons.
Police were called to a report of two individuals with a firearm on Saturday at around 4:45 p.m. near the Port Elgin main beach.
Officers located the two individuals and found that it was a water gun.
Police said replica weapons can be difficult to differentiate from real weapons.
"Officers will treat a weapons call as if there is a lethal weapon that poses a risk to public safety," said a social media post.
