Air quality is expected to deteriorate later today as smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario moves into the area. Poor air quality may persist into Friday.

During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status.

Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should avoid strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Expect a day of partly cloudy with clear spells

There's been a last-second lineup change to this weekend's Lighthouse Blues Festival in Kincardine.The Saturday night show will now feature Angelique Francis playing in the 8:45 p.m. slot. Francis most recently performed at the festival in 2022, with organizer Rick Clarke calling her a fan favourite. Francis subbed in after the original performers Annika Chambers and Paul DesLauriers had to withdraw, following the passing of Chambers mother.Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.lighthousebluesfestival.com/">festival's website</a>.
