The International Plowing Match is set to return to Bruce County in 2026.
Tom Evans, President of the Bruce County Plowmen's Association, says while it's not set in stone, all indications are that they'll be awarded the host bid.
"We've already informed the Ontario Plowmen's Association about it, they're very keen to have it in Bruce County again, because the previous three International Plowing Matches were a big success in Bruce County," he said. "It's not 'official, official,' but we're expecting no hiccups because everybody is keen about it."
The announcement should come at the Ontario Plowmen's Association AGM in London on April 5-6.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 event, they plan on hosting the plowing match in the same location, in Walkerton.
Bruce County last hosted an IPM in Teeswater in 2008.
Evans says it's an idea everyone has jumped on board with.
"When people heard about it, the response every time was super-positive. County council was just ecstatic," he said. "We just announced a volunteer info night in the start of March and the response online and word of mouth has been out of control."
Evans says its given them confidence as they look to fill several volunteer committee positions.
The information night will take place at the Walkerton Library Hall on Friday, March 8 beginning at 7 p.m.
