Owen Sound senior charged following crash

An 86-year-old resident of Owen Sound has been charged with careless driving after a two-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews were called, shortly after noon on Saturday, to a crash on 3rd Avenue West in Owen Sound.

"One of the vehicle drivers required assistance in exiting their vehicle, after being sent more than 50 feet off of the roadway and into some bushes adjacent to the road," police said in a statement.

The person was taken to Brightshores Hospital, it's believed that their injuries are minor.

Officers determined that the driver of a Dodge Caravan, travelling north, rear-ended a Hyundai Tuscon as it tried to turn left into a private driveway.

The Caravan had to be towed from the scene.

Police diverted traffic from the area for about 45 minutes to complete the investigation and remove extensive debris from the roadway.
