Ripley Winter Carnival offers up family fun

The annual Family Day weekend Ripley Winter Carnival begins this Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. with a Costume Skate, where participants can get creative and dress to impress.

The best dressed may just take home a prize thanks to the sponsorship of the Ripley and District Lions Club and Ripley Agricultural Society

Saturday morning, the whole family can enjoy a Pancake Breakfast complete with eggs, ham, toast, and coffee served by Huron-Kinloss Council and Staff volunteers. Adults eat for $10, children under 12 for $5, and a family of four for $25. Children under 5 eat for free.

Between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, children can use the ice surface as the canvas for their artistic talents at the Ice Painting event. Then, the Ripley Wolves host the Hockey Skills Competition with prizes for the best shooter, puck control, and fastest skater.

There will be Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride through the fields beside the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, thanks to Jim and Fran Farrell of FarHope Farm from 10 to 1 p.m.

All events take place at the Ripley Huron Community Centre, 17 Queen Street, Ripley.
