County wins provincial EDCO awards

Perth County recently picked up some prestigious provincial awards from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario.

A rural award for Community Economic Development was won for the Perth County Farms to Stratford Tables program. Tourism Officer, Ashley Lansink, explains that the project was a collaborative effort between Perth County Tourism and Destination Stratford.

"So really an award for both of us which makes it extra special. This campaign, we partnered together to kind of tell the story of how short of a distance food often travels in our region getting from farm to table by showcasing various farmers and producers across rural Perth County, and where their food might end up in Stratford at restaurants and food shops," Lansink explained.

The county also won a a rural award in Workforce Development and Resident Attraction for the Perth County Full House Tour.

"This was a car tour that showcased a variety of housing types that exist in various communities across Perth County. It was kind of a different way to provide a forum for various levels of government, developers, home builders, county staff, to see what's out there and discuss how we can work together to build more homes," added Lansink.
