Durham emergency department closed Saturday night

The Durham Hospital will be closing its emergency department overnight once again due to staffing shortages.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre says a lack of available nurses has forced a closure Saturday evening, starting at 5 p.m.

The ED will reopen Sunday morning at 7 a.m.

This is the fourth weekend in a row that Durham's emergency department has closed for staffing shortages.

As usual, ambulance by-pass will be undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.

For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811.
