Durham Hospital ED to temporarily close

The Emergency Department at the Durham Hospital will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday and re-open at 7 a.m. on Monday.

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre says the closure is due to a shortage of staff.

Ambulances will still be available to take patients to the nearest open hospital in a medical emergency.

The closest 24-hour Emergency Departments to the Durham hospital are:

Hanover (20km)
Mount Forest (25km)
Walkerton (28km)
Markdale (28km)
Owen Sound (46km)
Palmerston (46km)

For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 by calling 811.
