Registration open for Josh Armstrong Road Hockey Tournament

People can now sign up to take part in the Josh Armstrong Road Hockey Tournament.

The event is part of the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada event,

It will take place Saturday, January 21, starting at 11 a.m. at Harrison Park. Registration for the tournament is now open online.

The tournament is being held in memory of Josh Armstrong, who passed away in September 2019 at the age of 12.

Josh loved sports, especially playing hockey and golf.

The pre-teen donated his organs to help others live. And now the community can celebrate his memory by raising money for his family’s charity of choice.

There are two age divisions, with four teams in each. The teams will have seven players including one goalie.

The Under 11 and Under 12 division is open to players born in 2010 or 2011. The Under 13 and Under 14 division is open to players born in 2008 or 2009.

The deadline for team registration is January 4, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.

"Team registration includes the completed registration form and $140 team payment, delivered to the Community Services counter at City Hall. The first four teams in each age group that submit the required documents and payment will receive a spot in the tournament," said a media release from the City of Owen Sound.
