An online child sexual exploitation investigation by members of the Ontario Provincial Police resulted in the arrest of an Exeter resident.
Members the OPP's Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics Unit and Huron County Detachment seized several electronic devices during a search of a home in Exeter on November 22, 2022.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man and charged him with Possession of Child Pornography, and Making Available Child Pornography.
The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing with a scheduled court appearance early next year. The charges have not been proven in court.
Police say some victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. They say children are re-victimized every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared.
"Members of the community are asked to remain vigilant on behalf of children and report any instance of child sexual abuse material. Together we can make a difference in the struggle against child exploitation." said OPP Detective Inspector Jordan Whitesell, Counter Exploitation and Missing Persons Section.
