Strong winds and freezing rain batter Midwestern Ontario

The strong winds are bringing down power lines across the region this morning.

Hydro One  is reporting 165 customers are without power near Wingham, 153 are without power near Goderich and 141 customers are in the dark near Gorrie. Restoration times where they are given are now after 10 a.m.

You can expect more outages as the storm continues to batter the region throughout the day.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning, predicting about 2 millimetres of accretion and wind gusts to 70 kilometres per hour.

The storm has forced the cancellation of all buses in Huron and Perth and numerous other bus cancellations.
