Health Unit renews warning after suspected overdose

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reissuing a warning after another suspected drug overdose.

The GBHU says a Grey-Bruce resident in their mid-30's recently died on December 6 of a possible drug overdose or poisoning from illicit street drugs. As a result, the GBHU is once again warning substance users to presume that street drugs are likely laced with deadly fentanyl doses, and to not use alone or mix drug use with alcohol. This is the fourth suspected overdose death in the Grey-Bruce region since August this year.

If you are a drug user and must use alone, Public Health is advising that you call the Overdose Prevention Line at 1-888-688-6677. An operator will stay on the line with the caller while the drug is used. In the event the caller becomes unresponsive, the Prevention Line operator will call 911 to make sure help arrives.
