UPDATE: Snowsquall warning in effect for Goderich, Bluewater, Southern Huron County

Residents in Southern Huron County are about to get their first real taste of winter Saturday evening.

Environment Canada has upgraded an earlier snowsquall watch to a snowsquall warning for Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County.

Heavy flurries and snowsqualls will start Saturday night and continue until Monday morning, dropping as much as 4 cm of snow an hour.

By early Monday, residents may have between 15 cm and 25 cm of fresh snow on the ground.

Motorists may experience reduced visibility, and roads may be snow-covered and slippery. Environment Canada recommends postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Environment Canada issues a snow squall watch when the conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense snowfall or near-zero visibility.
