UPDATE: OPP called after stranger approaches child in South Huron

Updated at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, March 25

Huron County OPP say there was no malicious intent after a child was offered by the unknown occupants of a vehicle.

Police were alerted to the situation on Thursday. Investigators were told a child was in front of his home in Crediton, when an unknown vehicle stopped and the child was offered a ride on Wednesday.

Thursday night, police were able to identify and speak with the vehicle's occupants and say they had genuine concerns for the child's well-being and safety.

Huron County OPP does encourage parents to regularly engage in personal safety conversations with their children. Tips and resources can be found at opp.ca or at the Canadian Centre for Child Protection at protectchildren.ca.
