One person remains in custody following incident that caused school in Walkerton to be locked down

One person remains in custody following an incident in Walkerton earlier this week that caused a school in the town to be locked down.

On Monday, Ontario Provincial Police confirm they received a report of a threat at 8:55 a.m.

Shortly after, Walkerton District Community School was placed into lockdown, before that status was lifted around noon, with police confirming there was no threat to public safety and that all teachers and staff at the school were safe.

South Bruce OPP say that as a result of an investigation, 37-year-old Justin Spitzig of no fixed address has been charged with Uttering Threats.

Spitzig was remanded into custody following a bail hearing on Tuesday, and has a court date scheduled for Thursday, February 17th in Walkerton.
