South Bruce Peninsula set to vote on food centered event

Poutine Feast, a travelling festival celebrating the glorious combination of french fries, gravy and cheese, may have finally found a host for a stop in Midwestern Ontario.

South Bruce Peninsula Council is set to vote on approving a special event application for Poutine Feast to operate in Bluewater Park in Wiarton from September 1st-4th (Labour Day weekend).

Poutine Feast seemed destined to be in Owen Sound in 2022, but councillors voted 4-4 when the agenda item came to a vote, defeating the motion to approve the event with some councillors citing support for restaurants and concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic as reasons for not supporting.

Now, South Bruce Peninsula will have a similar vote today (Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.), which would being around 30 vendors and between 6 and 12 food trucks to the shores of Colpoy's Bay.

It's estimated anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 people could attend the event, and organizers are encouraging local vendors and food providers to participate.

South Bruce Peninsula's regular council meeting begins at 9 a.m.
