Police investigating hate crime fuelled mischief

Saugeen Shores Police are investigating a recent mischief case that is being deemed a hate crime.

On January 28th, officers received a report of two incidents of mischief at the Lamont Sports Park and the nearby snowmobile trail. Unknown suspects spray painted trail signs and markers, and other signs and markers were also damaged. A new utility building at the sports park had significant spray paint damage, with several hateful homophobic and racial slurs spray painted on the sides of the building. Police believe the damage was done between January 21st and the 23rd. Investigators also believe both incidents are connected.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on this crime to contact Saugeen Shores Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
