Scouts Canada appoints adventurer Les Stroud as Chief Scout

Scouts Canada has announced the appointment of survival expert Les Stroud as the organization's new Chief Scout.

In this role, Stroud will be an ambassador for Scouts Canada around the world, attending major events and sharing his expertise.

Stroud is best known for his appearance in the "Survivorman" series on Outdoor Life Network and the Discover Channel, tells CKNX "I knew sooner or later I would have to have some kind of involvement with them, but I didn't know I was going to be given this honour and go this route, but I'm thrilled that it did".

Executive Commissioner and CEO of Scouts Canada Andrew Prince says Stroud will "play a role in enabling more youth to get outdoors and discover their capabilities through Scouts".

Registration for Scouts Canada is open now via Scouts.ca/join.
