COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Midwestern Ontario

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added five new cases were in Wellington County. There are 20 active cases in Wellington. including six in Wellington North, three in Minto and two in Mapleton.

Huron Perth Public Health added eight new cases Friday, and reported 37 active cases. Two new cases were in Stratford, one in St. Marys, three in Perth East, one in South Huron and one in North Perth.

The Grey Bruce Health unit added another five new cases Friday, four in Kincardine, and one in Northern Bruce Peninsula. There are 28 active cases.

Across Midwestern Ontario, five residents are hospitalized with the virus.

Ontario health officials are reporting 419 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

Officials recorded no new deaths. 140 infections involved people who are fully vaccinated. However, when it come to hospitalizations, 139 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 29 people who are fully vaccinated.
