New COVID-19 case count trending lower in Midwestern Ontario

Just a handful of new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Midwestern Ontario Friday.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit added one new case of COVID-19 in South Bruce Friday. There are 16 active cases. Three residents are now hospitalized with the virus.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health added ten new cases and reported three people hospitalized with the virus Friday. One of those new cases was in Wellington, where there are 15 active cases.

Huron Perth Public Health  added two new cases, in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and Huron East. There are 15 active cases and one resident is hospitalized with the virus.

Across the province, 492 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, with 248 unvaccinated people, 21 partially vaccinated , 167 were fully vaccinated and 56 had an unknown vaccination status.
