GBHU reminding the public of free flu shots starting next month

The Grey Bruce Health Unit is reminding everyone that starting in November, free influenza shots will be available to protect against the flu.

In a release, the GBHU says initial supplies of the flu shot this year were prioritized for the most vulnerable of our population, much like the rest of Ontario. That supply is currently being administered locally to those most at risk. Starting next month, the influenza vaccine will be available for free across the province through Primary Care Providers like doctors, Family Health Teams, and nurse practitioner offices, and at participating pharmacies. Any clients without a health care provider are encouraged to visit their local pharmacy or contact the Grey Bruce Health Unit to make an appointment for immunization.

Flu season usually runs from late fall into early spring.
