Huron County economic director leaving

Huron County's Economic Development Director is leaving.

Cody Joudry has accepted a similar position in Dufferin County where he'll be Director of Development and Tourism and that will include museums, tourism, economic development, planning and chief building official.

Joudry says when he came to Huron County, about four and a half years go, he recognized a major problem immediately, not just in Huron County, but throughout the area.

“We had a major housing problem. We started talking about it in 2017, related to work force and those issues have only expanded. This trend actually started in 2016. The pandemic made it worse, but it started in 2016,” said Joudry.

While discussions have been ongoing since 2017, the pandemic made it worse.

Planning Director, Sandra Weber, will assume the duties of Acting Economic Development Director on September 20th.
