Some Listowel residents evacuated due to gas leak

Provincial police in North Perth were called to the scene of a gas line leak in Listowel on Canada Day.

Emergency crews, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Enbridge were called to the area of Donegan Street East and Wallace Avenue South sometime around 3 p.m. Thursday after a gas line was reportedly ruptured.

People living in the area were evacuated while crews worked to resolve the issue and the area was closed to traffic for several hours.

No other details on how the rupture occurred have been provided by police.

The area was reopened just before 7 p.m.
