Funding supports transportation services in Perth Wellington

Perth Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece is welcoming $1.7 million in additional local funding through the Community Transportation Grant Program.

The additional funding will help transportation services to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also intended to assist municipalities to continue operating their services after the program has completed.

Wellington County is receiving an additional $242,514.18. Perth County will see $858,713.68 in extra funding, and Stratford will get $611,936.91.

Services supported through the Community Transportation Grant Program include bus service, on-demand shared rides and door-to-door transportation services

“Small communities need reliable transportation services,” Pettapiece said. “I’m very pleased the province has recognized the need in communities like ours. This funding will help people to get around, get to appointments, and will support our economy to recover from the pandemic.”

“The Community Transportation Grant Program is making life easier for people living in areas with few public transportation options,” explained Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation.

The Community Transportation Grant Program currently provides up to $30 million over five years (2018-2023) to 38 municipalities
