Paid parking along Goderich waterfront comes into effect

Paid parking along the Goderich waterfront officially starts today.

But Mayor, John Grace, says for the first two weeks the focus will be on education, not compliance. He says they will have staff down at the waterfront, along the boardwalk, explaining to people how it works.

"We will have staff down at the waterfront, along the boardwalk, explaining to people how it works and that we're not there to make people comply for the first two weeks, this is educational only, it really won't take effect until June 14th."

Grace also points out, Goderich residents will not have to pay for parking.

"If you are a resident of Goderich and have ID, you will not be charged for parking. You can go on our web site, on our Facebook or call the town hall and get lined up electronically and get your two free passes per household."
