Goderich beaches will remain closed this weekend

Goderich Mayor, John Grace, says council confirmed at this week's meeting, that they will keep their beaches closed until June.

“We will keep our beaches closed until the stay-at-home order is lifted on June 2nd. At that time the beaches will open up, but we've always had the boardwalk and the roadways open. But the beaches will open on June 2nd.”

“Once the beaches to open, we do have a management plan in place and that is primarily to follow the public health guidelines, no matter where they're at at the time it opens,” Grace added.

So, he says, they'll look at that again in another week or so to see what the Province's position is on outdoor gatherings and beaches, but he points out as the situation changes and the public health guidelines are adjusted for those changes, they will adjust procedures at the beaches accordingly.

Grace also points out, the public washrooms are open now.
