West Grey budget includes bridge replacements and community improvement

West Grey council has passed its 2021 budget.

They’ve allocated funds to infrastructure projects as well as initiatives that respond to the future needs associated with community growth.

Highlights of the budget include:

• Tendering for the new West Grey police station

• Bridge 28 Bentick replacement

• Bridge 44 Glenelg replacement

• Garafraxa Street, Durham, Connecting Link bridge repairs

• Garafraxa Street, Durham, Connecting Link box culvert replacement

• Playground upgrades in Ayton and Neustadt

• Fire communications equipment upgrades in partnership with Grey County

• Community Improvement Plan – a grant matching program for business revitalization

• Technology, pavilion and LED lighting upgrades to the Elmwood Community Centre

“The municipal budget is one of the most important responsibilities of council, and I am pleased with the level of dialogue and diligence during the 2021 budget process,” said Mayor Christine Robinson. “This budget supports our strategic goals of building our community and being responsible to our taxpayers.”

The budget increase of $554,856 equates to an approximate $39.74 tax increase per $100,000 of residential assessment.
