The funding is part of a "$5 million provincial investment to help municipal fire services respond to the local impact of COVID-19." The funding will go toward fire safety training and programs. It will also enhance in-person and online training access for firefighters.

The breakdown of funding to be split among Perth-Wellington fire departments is as follows:

Minto Fire Department - $6,700.00

North Perth Fire Department - $7,800.00

Perth East Fire Department - $7,600.00

St. Marys Town Fire Department - $6,300.00

Stratford Fire Department - $12,300.00

Wellington North Fire Services = $7,500.00

West Perth Fire Department - $6,700.00

Mapleton Fire Rescue - $7,100.00

“This is welcome news for our fire departments,” said Pettapiece. “I’ve said it time and again: small communities depend on our firefighters. Today’s announcement demonstrates our government’s ongoing commitment to support them.”
