Crews working to fix slope at south end of Goderich

Goderich Mayor, John Grace, says crews started working this week to alter the slope of the Bluffs at the south end of Goderich.

Grace says Coast Goderich Development hosted a sod-turning ceremony on the property last fall to launch their development, but there was concerns about the slope of the Bluffs at the edge of the property and the potential for erosion.

"They are working with the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority, the Oceans and Fisheries from the Federal government and also the Ministry of Natural Resources, provincially, along with their engineers and Goderich engineers to address that concern in a way that respects habitat and safety issues."

Grace says the slope was 90 degrees, straight down, in some places.

"The slope that it was on was 90 degrees, straight down, very dangerous. So they are sloping it just like the one previous to them in the South Cove development where they knocked it down to a gradual slope."

Grace says they expect to have the work completed by March 15th.
