SIU ends investigation into arrest made in Hanover

The Special Investigations Unit has ended their investigation into the arrest of a 42-year old man in Hanover in October of last year.

The SIU says a man was arrested without incident at a local hotel on October 18, 2020. He was taken to the police station and put in a cell.

The following day, while being fingerprinted, the man mentioned soreness in his left little finger.

He was taken to hospital and was diagnosed with a fractured finger.

SIU Director Joseph Martion says there is nothing to investigate as far as the potential criminal liability because the evidence indicated the man's injury was sustained days before his arrest.
