Emergency services save life following drug overdose

Bruce County Paramedic Services had to respond and save a life following a drug overdose recently in South Bruce Peninsula.

On October 27th, Grey-Bruce OPP responded alongside Bruce County Paramedic Services and the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department to a report of a person in medical crisis on Dawson Street in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula. It was determined that an individual overdosed on fentanyl and emergency responders administered Naloxone, successfully reviving the patient. The patient was then taken to local hospital for observation.

If you suspect someone is overdosing or in medical distress, do not delay in calling 9-1-1. Police would like to remind residents that Canada's Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides protection from charges for individuals at the scene of a drug overdose for simple drug possession. So do not flee the scene of an overdose, stay with the patient and wait for emergency services to arrive.
