Short-term rental headaches in ACW

The Mayor of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh says the municipality has recently received several letters and emails expressing concerns over short-term rentals in the municipality.

Glen McNeil said the concerns are regarding conduct.

"These concerns are of conduct, activities and behaviour that has been experienced and observed at these rentals. We want to ensure that unruly behaviour, and I assure everyone, it will no longer be tolerated," said McNeil.

McNeil said the municipality has a noise bylaw.

"We encourage anyone who experiences this to phone the OPP. We have a noise bylaw in ACW with fines ranging from $175 to $5,000 for any offences."

McNeil added they have posted the notice on the ACW web site so that renters and owners are aware of the consequences of inappropriate behaviour.
