Wellington County Taste Real Challenge launched

Wellington County’s Taste Real programme has launched The Taste Real Summer Challenge to encourage locals to engage in staycation-type activities and discover fun outings and food-related adventures this summer.

The Taste Real website lists a range of staycation ideas, including farm tours, picnics, and patios, suggesting how people can explore Wellington County's back roads, shop at farmers’ markets, and uncover local food treasures right in their own backyard.

“We have an excellent home-grown food culture in Wellington County,” said Economic Development Committee Chair George Bridge. “While many farms have seen an increase in demand for local food during the pandemic, we know that other businesses, especially in the foodservice sector, are struggling. The Taste Real Summer campaign is a great way to show support for local businesses and an opportunity to discover exciting new spots close to home.”

The public is encouraged to share photos of their outings, purchases, and dishes via social media with hashtag #tasterealsummer. All photos will be entered to win $200 worth of gift cards to local food restaurants.  Participation details and the full line up of experiences can be found at www.tastereal.ca.
