Police charge youth following incident in Goderich

Huron County OPP have charged a 16-year-old following a recent incident in Goderich.

On July 20th, a resident on Eldon Street in Goderich called police after a group of youths were knocking on their door and running away toward the skate park. The accused then allegedly began throwing rocks at the home and the resident's vehicle.

When the resident came out to confront the accused, rocks were thrown at the homeowner, forcing them to retreat inside to avoid injury. Police say the damages to the home and vehicle total $8,000. Officers identified the youth responsible following an investigation.

On July 29th, officers arrested the 16-year-old Goderich resident and charged them with Mischief Over $5,000, Mischief Under $5,000 and Assault with a Weapon. The youth has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for this fall.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
