Tornado Warnings issued late Sunday morning

Environment Canada meteorologists tracked a severe thunderstorm that that could have possibly produced a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall also hit the area late Sunday morning.

A line of thunderstorms moved quickly east off of Lake Huron from Sarnia north to Owen Sound. Wind gusts up to 110km/h were also possible.

Tornado warnings were put in place for Huron County just before 11:30 a.m. while warnings for Perth County followed shortly thereafter. Both warnings were dropped near noon.

A tornado warning was also posted for northern parts of Wellington shortly before noon on Sunday and ended around 12:15 p.m.

Environment Canada recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued in Grey and Bruce but was later downgraded to a watch. The severe thunderstorm watches ended around 6:40 p.m.
