New long term care home in Mitchell

A new 128-bed long-term care facility will be built in Mitchell.

The $24 million project has been approved by the province and construction is expected to start in September.

"This is tremendous news for Ritz Villa and Mitchell Nursing Home residents, staff and volunteers," said Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece. "It shows the province is serious about seeing this project through to completion."

The 72,000 square foot project will combine what is now West Perth Village Seniors' Community into one building with residents moving in by August of 2022.

"This redevelopment project has been in the planning stage for over five years now, so we are thrilled to be able to start building," said David Murray, chair of the Ritz Lutheran Villa board of directors.
