Call about domestic dispute in Listowel results in alleged assault of an officer

Perth County OPP have laid numerous charges against a North Perth resident following a recent domestic dispute, including assault of an officer.

Police responded to a call at a Listowel home on Barber Avenue North on July 4, just after 6 p.m.

At the time police determined one person was failing to comply with a release order, and was told they were under arrest. The person resisted arrest, then allegedly assaulted an officer and tried to disarm them.

As a result, a 40-year-old North Perth resident has been charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order - Other than Attend Court
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Disarming a Peace Officer
The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
