Perth County crash causes serious injuries

One person was seriously injured after a collision in the Municipality of West Perth.  Just after 1:30 p.m. on July 02, 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol came across a collision that had just occurred at the intersection of Perth Road 164 and Line 20, in the community of Russeldale.

The preliminary investigation has determined that a transport truck was travelling northbound, when a car travelling eastbound drove into the intersection, causing a collision. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign in the east/west directions.

With the assistance of the West Perth Fire Department, and Perth County Paramedic Services, the driver of the car was extricated from the vehicle, and air-lifted by Ornge Air Ambulance. Their injuries have been determined to be non-life-threatening. Two other occupants of the car, an adult and a child, were not injured. The driver of the transport truck was also not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
