Sauble Beach, along with other beaches in South Bruce Peninsula, is open again.
Council decided to open the beaches at a special council meeting Thursday.
In June, Council had decided to open beaches for walk-through access only, which did not work and the beaches were closed. Officials stated that COVID-19 guidelines were not being adhered to.
The message this time is again to follow COVID-19 guidelines and there will be paid, on-duty police to assist with patrolling during weekends. And the Health Unit is offering face coverings.
There will also weekly assessments to make sure visitors are following guidelines to keep beaches open through to at least the Civic holiday weekend.
“This must be a joint effort between the town, our residential community, business community and our visitors. If everyone follows the rules and respects one another, we should have no issues going forward” stated Mayor Janice Jackson in a release.
While those visiting the beach will be able to sunbathe and swim, council stresses they must adhere to provincial orders regarding social distancing and gathering numbers.
