Minto mayor says loans are not the answer for all businesses

Minto Mayor George Bridge says about $850,000 of the $1 million in loan money from Wellington County has been spoken for.

Of that about $190,000 went to eight businesses in Wellington North and Minto.

Bridge says loans, even at a low interest rate, are not the answer for many businesses who are not interested in adding to their debt load.

Businesses have until this Thursday to apply for a loan.

Bridge says he wants to start considering how businesses can be helped to reopen once the COVID-19 emergency passes.
