Saugeen Shores Police begins investigation into unlicensed taxi companies

Bruce Taxi is back on the road in Saugeen Shores after pulling its cabs last week.

A phone message said this was due to "Saugeen Shores' inability to police unlicensed taxi companies operating in the municipality".

Owner Robert Byrne met with both Saugeen Shores Police Chief Mike Bellai and Mayor Luke Charbonneau to discuss his concerns.

The service has announced that an investigation is now underway, but did not provide details.

Byrne noted that the public is at risk of using these illegal taxi services, which are not properly insured, not town licensed and do not undergo regular mechanical and safety inspections.
