A low-pressure system could bring snow squalls to the area Wednesday and cause flooding and erosion problems along the Lake Huron shoreline.
The Maitland Valley and Ausable Bayfield conservation authorities both released flood outlook and water safety statements Tuesday afternoon, advising the system will bring wind gusts up to 70 km/h. Those wind gusts, along with the record high lake level, will mean big waves crashing against the shore, flooding low lying areas and eroding the bluffs.
Both conservation authorities expect the weather event won't last long.
"There may be a delay between erosion at the toe [bottom] of the bluff and subsequent bluff failure," the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority said.
Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Warning for most of Midwestern Ontario Wednesdsay.
