Community rallies to help injured Ripley Wolves Coach

The community is rallying to help the coach of the Ripley Wolves, who was seriously injured in a collision.

Shawn Burrows was involved in a car accident on November 22 on his way to coaching the Ripley Wolves in Elora.

He was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital where he has been in the Spinal Trauma unit since. He underwent surgery on his neck and spine on December 1.

The Ripley Wolves, Kincardine Bulldogs and Kincardine Minor Hockey Association will be fundraising Saturday, December 21 at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

The Ripley Wolves play at 5 p.m. with the Kincardine Bulldogs to follow at 7:30 p.m. Burrows is an assistant coach for the Ripley Wolves and has spent many years with the Kincardine Bulldogs and Kincardine Minor Hockey.

There's also a Go Fund Me page set up for him, which has raised over $18,000 so far.

Burrows will have a long road to recovery ahead with several weeks of rehabilitation, and therefore will incur many expenses and be off work for quite some time.

If there are excess funds that Shawn no longer needs, all will be donated back to a charity of Burrows' choice.
