Bruce County terminates employment for three administrators

Bruce County has now terminated the employment of three employees.

The county’s director of human resources and director of health services, as well as the Administrator of Brucelea Haven Long Term Care Facility, have all been let go.

A release said the decision was made following a careful, considered review of information related to recent issues at Brucelea Haven by Bruce County Council.

The Bruce County Chief administrative officer remains suspended with pay, pending further considerations.

Bettyanne Cobean has been appointed as Bruce County interim chief administrative officer and brings significant experience to the role as she helps to guide this transition.

To support the efforts to bring the home in compliance with provincial standards, Bruce County has engaged Primacare, an established, respected long-term care provider.

“The shortcomings in care at Brucelea Haven impacted some of Bruce County’s most vulnerable residents and we have acted both swiftly and with careful consideration,” said Warden Mitch Twolan. “We are committed to addressing these issues and moving forward to ensure that the county’s long-term-care facilities provide a high level of care for residents in the future.”
