Upper Grand District School Board cuts 98 secondary school courses

The Upper Grand District School Board has cancelled just under 100 secondary school courses for the upcoming school year.

Board spokesperson Megan Sicoli said the provincial government is only providing class size funding for one teacher for every 28 students, and noted that 98 courses across the board's secondary schools have been cancelled.

This includes the music program at Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest, which Sicoli notes only 19 students in the entire school selected music as a course option.
