Police confirm charges laid in relation to threat against local school

Hanover police have confirmed an arrest was made in connection to a threat against a local school.

On June 11, Hanover Police Service received word that a threat was spray painted in a bathroom at John Diefenbaker Secondary School that violence would occur on June 13. Officers attended the school on the 13 and no such act took place. After further investigation, Hanover police arrested and charged a 16-year-old male on Saturday, June 22 with uttering threats.

The youth has been released on conditions and Hanover police do not anticipate any further arrests related to this investigation.

The identity of the youth cannot be released due to conditions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
